Medical marijuana applications in Pennsylvania outpace available permits
The state’s health department is charged with creating the supply chain to grow marijuana plants in greenhouses, process the plants into oils and liquids and sell the product to certified patients at dispensaries.
HARRISBURG — Local applications to grow, process and dispense medical marijuana already outpaced the number of permits the state will issue for the region.
A list released by the state Department of Health lists 20 logged applications for grower/processor permits and 25 logged dispensary applications in Northeast Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. Those numbers are expected to grow.
