PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Greenspoon Marder is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm’s Litigation practice group with the addition of four new attorneys to the firm’s Portland office: Shareholders Leah Sykes, Aaron Matusick, William Edgar and Senior Counsel Marcel Gesmundo.
“Greenspoon Marder’s litigation capabilities are second to none, and we’re looking forward to further strengthening our industry-leading service offerings with this exceptional roster of litigators,” comments Michael Marder, Co-Managing Director of Greenspoon Marder.
Shareholder Leah Sykes serves housing providers in all legal aspects of property management with a special focus on education and fair housing discrimination defense. Ms. Sykes advises clients in the non-profit and for-profit housing markets with a great depth of knowledge of federal, state and local laws and agency regulations. She has expanded her strong litigation background to include preventative methodologies for clients, including management, business structure, corporate training and guiding the industry in legislative matters.
Shareholder Aaron Matusick specializes in landlord-tenant law. He has considerable courtroom experience fighting for owners of real property and property management companies. In addition, he represents buyers, sellers and developers of real property, with a focus on entity formation, acquisitions, sales, leasing and management. Mr. Matusick’s first-hand experience as owner of a real property development company is instrumental in his consultation with clients.
Shareholder William J. Edgar joins the Litigation practice group at Greenspoon Marder, focusing on civil litigation with an emphasis on business, landlord tenant disputes and toxic tort/mold cases as well as professional and general liability cases. He litigates a wide variety of cases in state and federal courts, including real estate disputes, construction defect claims, breach of contract issues, personal injury claims and discrimination and Fair Housing Act cases. He has represented clients at trial, arbitration and mediation. Mr. Edgar’s broad range of litigation experience allows him to serve clients in multiple areas of law.
Senior Counsel Marcel J. Gesmundo is a litigator with a primary focus on commercial and residential leasing and landlord tenant law. In addition to advocating for clients through all stages of litigation, he advises them on legal developments in housing laws and regularly teaches classes and seminars on the topic.
“Portland will continue to be an important market for our firm as we look to expand our firm’s footprint on the West Coast and service our clients on a national level,” comments Gerald Greenspoon, Co-Managing Director of Greenspoon Marder.
